Maryland's Civil Gideon Strategy Featured in Clearinghouse Review

January 11, 2005: The Clearinghouse Review Journal of Poverty Law and Policy published an article in its Nov-Dec 2004 issue about the Public Justice Center's efforts to establish a right to counsel for poor people in civil cases (our "civil Gideon" project). The article was written by Executive Director John Nethercut as a practitioner's guide  -- it chronicles the legal, strategic, and practical decisions that were made in bringing this test case.  The Clearinghouse Review is the essential trade magazine for poverty law lawyers, and this article invites advocates from other states to join a national coalition of civil Gideon advocates being spearheaded by the Public Justice Center.
