Spotlight on PJC Volunteer: Harvey Kour

Harvey Kaur, a sophomore at Johns Hopkins University, was awarded the 2009 Abell Award in Urban Policy through a writing competition.  Harvey wrote "In a State of Emergency: Challenges of Providing Oral Health Care Services to the Low-Income and the Medicaid Populations (Baltimore City)," while working with Laurie Norris on oral health issues in the Fall of 2008.

Harvey has also been awarded a stipend from the Maryland Nonprofit Leadership Program, an honor given to only 30 people out of many applicants.  These awards will allow Harvey to remain in Baltimore this summer and continue her work on oral health issues and with the PJC's prisoners' rights project.
