The lack of safe, fair, affordable housing is such an important issue to Maryland families that many in Annapolis declared 2024 to be the “Year of Housing” in the General Assembly. Come learn about the Public Justice Center’s work in coalition-driven campaigns to advance housing justice, including recently passed state legislation to hold negligent landlords accountable and establish an eviction prevention funds program for families with children. We will also discuss a recent Maryland Supreme Court decision impacting what fees a landlord may charge as well as Baltimore City-based advocacy to keep rents stable and ensure safe housing.
